What is your affiliate program? By becoming an mp3charts affiliate you'll be able to participate in revenues we generate in designated programs each time a surfer clicks on the download link(s) on your homepage or website. Can anyone join your affiliate program? Our affiliate program is open to bands and all webmasters of music sites - and it costs nothing to join. Sign up here. What happens when we submit a track? When you submit a track, our software will automatically generate a Unique Tracking Code (UTC) for that track. The UTC is part of the html code that you need to place as the link to your mp3 file on any sites promoting your music, including your own homepage. You can easily generate the link by using our ‘generate html code’ module. Why do our download figures go up and then down? Each hour our system counts the downloads for the previous 168 hours only (that's equivalent to a 7 day period) - so the figure you see can go up or down (or remain unchanged even). Do we have to upload any song files to your servers? No. Your mp3 files can reside both on your homepage’s server and at the same time at any site promoting your music. Who can host our mp3s? Check out our partner sites page and the useful resources section if you're looking for servers to host your files. Can we submit song samples as well or only entire songs? Preferably entire songs, please. Real-world charts don't track thirty second excerpts either, no matter how exhilarating. Does your software track all downloads from all sites that our songs are promoted on? Our software will count all the downloads from each site that links to an mp3 file of your track by our link code, no matter where the actual mp3 file resides. Can you help us set up the download links on our own website? Our support staff will be happy to modify your html documents with our download links so that you can just upload them to your server. Contact support.. Is there a limit to how many tracks we can submit? No, you may submit as many or as few tracks as you like. Our software will only count downloads of mp3 files that are linked to by our html link code. Can we submit tracks in formats other than mp3? Not really. mp3charts.com is all about promoting the mp3 format. However, should any formats emerge of equal sound quality and compression ratio, we shall accept those too. How soon after we submit a track will downloads get counted? Our software will start counting downloads the moment you place the necessary download links on your html pages. Can we cheat? No, but you can try. Our software will successfully filter out any attempts to artificially inflate the number of true downloads, including multiple hits generated by robots. Repeated attempts at cheating will result in your track and any future tracks you may wish to submit being excluded from future rankings. We recently submitted a track, but the file’s now on a different server. Send us an email with the track’s UTC and the new URL. We’ll confirm any changes to the original email address you submitted. We submitted a track, but we've lost the Unique Tracking Code. You can find your UTC at any time with our QuickSearch module. Why are the comments boards no longer referred to as 'buzz' ? We like to call things by what they really are - so now it's 'mosh' ...as in 'moshpit'. Can we see how often our tracks got downloaded even if we don’t make it into the Top Forty? Of course. Simply go to the stats section and type in your track’s Unique Tracking Code. You’ll see the track’s rank and the number of downloads for the past seven days. What are PowerStats accounts? In many cases, you’ll want to know more than just where your track ranks. If the track’s being promoted on various sites, you’ll want to know how many downloads occurred at each site separately. A PowerStats account will provide this information, along with other valuable statistics, broken down over 3 time frames: last month, last week, last 24 hours. You can view a sample report here. What does it cost to set up PowerStats accounts? Because using PowerStats accounts makes our servers work more, we need to charge a small monthly subscription fee for each account. Currently this is $4.95 per account. You’ll need a separate account for each track. There’s no limit to how often you can access your PowerStats accounts. |
