The principle is simple

Whenever a band submits a new track to us they are given a code unique to the submitted track. The bands use this code as part of the html link to their track. Each time a surfer downloads a track from a homepage or a music site via this code, our servers log the event.

Every 60 minutes our software adds up all downloads for the previous 168 hours, equivalent to a seven day period, and ranks all submitted tracks accordingly.

The technology behind it

We have assembled the latest in anonymous download tracking software, coupled with leading-edge processor and server technology.

Our servers are connected to the Internet via fully redundant, multiple T3 connections. Our database is monitored by a team of experienced system administrators who help to ensure that our charts are updated regularly every hour.
